Taking a closer look at the Sonneteer Morpheus

Love it or hate, take it or leave it, but things are a changing in audioland, a revolution to the way we listen to music is here. For the great majority the traditional hi-fi separates are considered dead, it's just a small band of resolute audiophiles will claim this is not the case, but in Eden Audios experience the winds of change have been in the air for a few years, and the thing that is the driving force to this change is using the PC as a source and streaming your music collection from your computer. Eden Audio ask ourselves, just how much mileage is there left in CD players?

So here we are in 2009, and the guys at Sonneteer decide to release a Music centre, a music centre you may think?, isn't that what grandad had in the corner of his living room in the 1970s? You shudder at the thought of having something like in your home, but hold on a mo, jump in your 'Back to the future' car, and set the date to 2010.

So here we are in 2010 and Sonneteer have a new music centre for us audiophiles to get out grubby little mits on. Now a new product from Sonneteer is not something we see everyday, every week, or even every year, just look at the current Sonneteer line up and it's all very familiar, you wont find a MKII, a SE, or whatever the latest modern trends in names maybe, and to me there's a very good reason for this, and that is they get it right the first time, listen to a Sonneteer Campion or Alabaster and you'll understand where I'm coming from.

But we're here to look at the new Morpheus Music Centre, a streaming, a amp, a tuner, a clock, all in one box. Now there is some very striking features about this product which shows some great forward thinking behind it and attention to detail.

The first thing to strike you even before you remove the product from the box are some very unusual, but warmly received ideas. The first thing to strike me was this is a GREEN and environmentally friendly product. Some of the instructions are written on the box explaining the how the environment has been taking into consideration which gets a big thumbs up from me, another very innovative idea hits you later which I'll get too eventually.

Let's get to the Morpheus. The first things to strike me is how cool it looks, then how light it weighs, you can pick the product up easily and it is very easy on the eye, it looks stylish, chic and modern, this is no 1970 idea of a music centre, this is a 2009 product that is full of innovative thinking behind it.
