1.3 metre Oyaide DR-510 RCA digital interconnet
In pursuit of excellence, Oyaide produced FTVS-510 by changing
the conductor from 4N silver to 5N silver. Oyaide devoted much energy
to providing the finest 5N silver and to researching the perfect
insulator and shield for the silver conductor.
To enhance electrical conductivity of connectors as well
as cable, Oyaide attached SLSC and SLSB with pure silver contacts for
perfect signal transmission by pure silver.
DR-510 / DB-510 represent the ultimate purity and
transparency that Oyaide have pursued for the finest digital cable.
Pure
Silver Conductor
Pure silver is the best material for high-speed transmission due to
its excellent electrical conductivity which is far superior to high-purity
copper. However, the price of silver continues to rise making
it one of the rare metals.
For the core of FTVS-510, 5N jewelry grade pure silver, which is far better
than industrial grade, is used. After being melted in a ceramic crucible,
it is molded into 15mm diameter round bars. It is further reduced in diameter
by means of 19 repetitions of the cold rolling process.
Afterwards, the silver wire is further reduced to 1.05mm by a low-speed
drawing process. After the final rolling operation and mirror surface
finishing, stress and strain that is generated by the drawing process
is slowly removed by a lengthy annealing operation in a high-frequency
electric furnace filled with inactive gas to prevent the silver from combining
with oxygen. The completed ultra-pure silver wires are immediately packaged
in nitrogen gas and are safely stored until the next process.
Insulator
Although the conductor is the most important factor in signal transmission,
the insulator is also significant in enhancing the transmitting capabilities
of the cable.
Oyaide uses a combination of PE(Polyethylene) and FEP(Teflon) which provides
excellent electrical isolation and low electric permittivity. These help to enhance the transmitting performance.
For the first insulation layer, Oyaide selected PE (Polyethylene) which keeps
permittivity to a minimum and enhances the flexibility of the cable. This
layering of these different materials not only enhances the conductor's
electric capabilities but also attenuates internal vibration by altering
the resonance point.
Semiconductor layer
Although Teflon has great electric characteristics, it builds static charges
easily. Oyaide needed
a method to remove static electricity.
When signal flows in a cable, it generates ultra weak vibrations which
cause the discharge of an electric corona.
In order to solve this problem, Oyaide installed Carbon PE as a semiconductor
layer. By surrounding just the outside of the first insulation layer,
this semiconductor layer helps to discharge static buildup from the Teflon
layer in an orderly fashion.
Triple-layered shield
The silent background of the FTVS-510 is provided by a double-layered
shielding structure. Triple-layered shielding protects against broad band noise and
noise from micro-arcing.
Firstly, the semiconductor layer attenuates static noise
and electric micro waves. The second copper foil shielding protects against high-frequency noise. The third is a silver plated mesh shielding, protects
against low-frequency noise. It also protects against high-frequency noise
by means of the skin effect on the silver plating.
Exterior
The beautiful and clear polyurethane sheathing has
excellent mechanical strength
and always maintains a stable level of hardness without
being affected
by temperature change. It can also be used outdoors
because polyurethane cuts UV. Moreover, due to its high shock absorption
and
degree of elasticity, polyurethane provides powerful
isolation from vibrations.
The SLSC RCA Plugs
The high-quality gateways of lossless signal transmission
The plugs are the gateways of signal transmission and define the quality of sound.
As the original plug of SL series, SLSC and SLSB are
produced to maximum potential of cable. Oyaide employed 4N pure silver
which has the highest electrical conductivity in all metals for the
contact pin. SLSC/SLSB actualize transmitting high-quality and
lossless sound.
Outer shell
The body and housing of SLSC/SLSB, made of brass and
processed by CNC machining, are high-density and have high shielding
performance compared to an existing lost-wax processed body. For its
surface treatment, hard chrome plating is coated like a body of
camera. The knurled pattern on the surface of SLSC enhances the
handling property.
Insulator
The insulator is significant factor in enhancing the transmitting capabilities of the cable.
For the purpose of lessening signal loss, Oyaide employed Teflon which
provides excellent electrical isolation and low electric permittivity.
Contact pin
The contact pin is trimmed down from 4mm 4N silver round bar by
precision CNC machining. It is finished by mechanical barreling and hand
polishing piece by piece.
Pure silver is the best material for high-speed transmission due to its
excellent electrical conductivity which is far superior to high-purity
copper.
