After the huge success of the Kudos C30 the busy bods at Kudos headquarters put on their what if hats and set about creating a new loudspeaker that to put it simply was going to redefine what was achievable at it's very competitive price point.
In fact the development of the Kudos X2 was to be kept top secret by the Kudos team of engineers, obviously when your developing such a thoroughbred you don't want to give away your secret ingredients to the competition, Kudos chose the best materials and drivers from SEAS, which when all mixed together with the Kudos midas touch it was going to result in a new loudspeaker that was going to shake up the loudspeaker world, a new dawn had begun.
So it came as a great surprise for all when Kudos finally unveiled their new secret weapon in the form of the Kudos X2 at the UK Hi-Fi show in the autumn of 2009
Though diminutive in size, at the show the new Kudos X2 simply stood out like a giant among the rest of the offerings, it was greeted by the public with a rapture of applause as people bestowed great praise on the speaker for the wonderful sound quality it possessed, Kudos for sure were on to a winner!!!
Just recently the Kudos X2 have been described in HiFi choice as speakers that sounds lively, coherent, informative and entertaining.

"You can not defy the laws of physics Jim", well if that is true then someone obviously forgot to tell Derek at Kudos because you will be left scratching your head in amazement thinking, how on earth do they do that?
It just doesn't make sense, when you first open the box of the Kudos X2 before your eyes will appear two very small loudspeakers, now if these speakers were kids, they'd be the kind of kids that in the school playground they would get bullied for being the titch of the class because they are that small, but be careful what you say because looks can deceive and you'll get a punch you never expected, and that's exactly what you get with the Kudos X2 a sound and punch that you would never guess was possible.
In fact, the speakers are beautifully designed, they look so cute, cool, modern and trendy, easy to place without over taking your room, they really do have so many plus points that there is not much to dislike. You can choose a variety of excellent finishes, for our eden audio towers demo room we ordered a pair in White which is the 'in' colour in seems for speakers at the moment.
The speakers are easy to place thanks to the port being in the base of the speakers. The speakers also have their own plinth the sit on, all in all with the magnetic Black grills the Kudos X2 really is a very smart, small package.
Here at Eden Audio we always like to have our speakers placed well in to the room, we do this as we believe it gives the sound greater depth to the sound field. Speakers are set at about 1-8metres to 2metres apart and very slightly toed in.
Listening to a variety of music even before the speakers have been fully run in you are left in amazement at how sonically these speakers disappear, many a time you listen to a pair of speakers and it is quite easy to locate them sonically, but not so with the Kudos X2, in front of you is a wall of sound full of music, forget the speakers, you don't notice them because you are entranced in what you are hearing, it's scarily real.
Vocals are dead in the centre and very realistic sounding, they just hang there, floating in thin air. Soundstage has great depth, instruments are easily located in the sonic soundfield, The Kudos X2 are a joy to listen to, and above all loads of fun.
Feed them any type of music you like and they will gladly oblige, they simply don't care, they just get on with the job in hand of playing music that is full of gusto. But you never ever stop wondering just how they manage it all because the main mid bass driver is so small but yet bass has real depth and speed to it and punch, it's a miracle.
The Kudos X2 use tweeters and drivers modified for Kudos Audio needs and specification by SEAS of Norway. The two units gel perfectly, and compliment each other, treble is clean and lively, not bright so like many modern speakers sound, the Kudos sound right.
These are speakers that make you want to feed your CD player or server with track after track as they manage to hold your attention hour after hour as you sit there with a big grin on your face and your head nods with approval.
Kudos Audio have managed to develop and remarkable sounding little speaker, Eden Audio love it both in looks and sound, it's a real class product that will really put Kudos on the map, brilliance in a tiny cute package.

The baby Kudos X2 was awarded a Hi-Fi Choice magazine Recommended logo in the October 2010 issue for an exceptional performance amongst a group of loudspeakers ranging from £1350 up to £2095. Being the smallest floorstander, and the lowest cost loudspeaker in the group did not hold the X2 back. Its overall score was only very slightly behind that of the group winner, which cost nearly twice as much. Praised for an 'impressively lively demeanour, vibrant open and coherent sound', the baby Kudos X2 was very nearly the best performer and by far the best value loudspeaker in this test.
